OUR CATHOLIC IDENTITY ESSENTIAL STEPS for FAMILY SESSIONS Here are the essential STEPS to follow when you meet as a family to study the Our Catholic Identity Lessons

  1. BEGIN WITH PRAYER: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. Almighty God, we ask you to open our minds, hearts, and souls to receive all that you will teach us through your grace and the power of your Holy Spirit in us today. AMEN

  2. Review PART 1 WE BELIEVE LESSON 2 from the Our Catholic Identity workbooks at the various levels.

    1. In your purple workbook, Lesson 2 is One God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    2. In the orange workbook Lesson 2 is: Sacred Scripture

    3. in the green workbook Lesson 2 is: Jesus Christ the Son of God

    4. In the red workbook Lesson 2 is: Jesus is the Son of God

    5. In the light blue workbook Lesson 2 is Jesus is the Son of God

  3. Read OUR CATHOLIC TRADITION for each level. This section will help you learn about the lives of holy people and the special practices of the Catholic faith.

    1. For example, in the purple Lesson 2: Our Catholic Tradition talks about the CREEDS In Latin CREDO means I BELIEVE.

    2. Have each child share what their workbook looks at.

  4. Complete the ACTIVITY for each lesson. These activities will help you practice what you are learning.

    1. Look at the Activity for each level

    2. CHOOSE the right ASSIGNMENT for each child and have them share what they are learning with the family.

    3. Give encouragement and special treats like stickers and more to the little ones.

  5. Say the Glory BE prayer....thanking God in Three Persons for inviting us to be part of God's Kingdom now and forever: GLORY BE Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be w world without end. AMEN

  6. End the Family Group time with the Lord's Prayer: OUR FATHER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, (SINS) as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, AMEN

  7. SHARE what you are learning with other family members, your godparents and friends.

8. Write out the FAITH Vocabulary words in bold type in each lesson in your journal in words that make sense to you. (See definitions in the glossary at the end of the book.). Examples:

FAITH: a theological virtue (thinking and acting naturally like Jesus) invitation to believe and trust in him and our obedient response to that invitation.

REVELATION: How God tells us little by little who He is and about how he is going to save us from sin and death to live forever in His Kingdom.


CHURCH: ALL of us who believe in and follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior!


CREED: this is what we believe about God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

APOSTLE'S CREED: at Baptism and in the Rosary

NICENE CREED: What we say at Sunday MASS


ONE GOD: We believe in ONE GOD in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, always together.

PASOS ESENCIALES PARA LAS SESIONES FAMILIARES

Estos son los PASOS esenciales a seguir cuando se reúnen en familia para estudiar las Lecciones de Nuestra Identidad Católica


1. COMENZAR CON ORACIÓN: En el Nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo, Amén.

Dios todopoderoso, te pedimos que abras nuestras mentes, corazones y almas para recibir todo lo que nos enseñarás a través de tu gracia y el poder de tu Espíritu Santo en nosotros hoy. AMÉN

2. Revise LO QUE CREEMOS de Our Catholic

Cuadernos de identidad en los distintos niveles.

Vea ejemplos de lo que los niños y jóvenes podrían estar aprendiendo en los distintos niveles a continuación.


3. Lea Nuestra tradición católica para cada nivel. Esta sección te ayudará a aprender sobre la vida de las personas santas y las prácticas especiales de la fe católica.


4. Complete la ACTIVIDAD para cada lección. Estas actividades te ayudarán a practicar lo que estás aprendiendo. ELIJA la ASIGNACIÓN correcta para cada niño.


5. Diga la oración Glory BE....agradeciendo a Dios en Tres Personas por invitarnos a ser parte del Reino de Dios ahora y para siempre:

SEA LA GLORIA

Gloria al Padre y al Hijo

y al Espíritu Santo como era en el principio ahora

y siempre por los siglos de los siglos. AMÉN


6. Finalice el tiempo del Grupo Familiar con el Padrenuestro:

este día nuestro pan de cada día,

7. COMPARTE lo que estás aprendiendo con familiares y amigos.


8. Escriba las palabras del Vocabulario FE en negrita en cada lección en su diario en palabras que tengan sentido para usted. (Ver definiciones en el glosario al final del libro).

Ejemplos:


FE: una virtud teologal (pensar y actuar naturalmente como Jesús) invitación a creer y confiar en él y nuestra respuesta obediente a esa invitación.


APOCALIPSIS: Cómo Dios nos dice poco a poco cómo nos va a salvar.


CREDO DE NICE: esto es lo que creemos acerca de Dios, el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo.

What do the Scriptures tell us about GOD?

ALMIGHTY (powerful)

CREATOR of heaven and earth, all things visible and invisible

Creator of all that is good.

God rules over everything and can do everything.

God invites us to share in his love

Is always loving, caring, good, forgiving and wise

Someone we can TRUST

Knows what we need before we ask

Holy

God’s loving power extends to ALL people.

ONE God in THREE persons …..all of the same substance, always

acting together.


What do we believe about the Holy Trinity?

Apostle’s Creed


THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit born of the Virgin Mary suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
