Family Catechesis NEWS

ATTEND MASS as a FAMILY

Thank you, Beloved Families for contacting Ms. Sue @ 760.445.4049 to schedule a time this summer to attend MASS as a family with a catechist!

(This will let us know that you are interested in continuing with our Family Catechesis!)

THIS SUNDAY, June 19 is the SOLEMNITY of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi Sunday!

Here's the special prayer that the priest will read:

O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament (Holy Communion) have left us a memorial of your Passion(suffering and dying for our sins), grant us, we pray, so to revere (show respect for) the sacred mysteries of your Body and blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption. who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. AMEN

Here is the St. Francis Bulletin to review the Scriptural readings to prepare your mind and heart to experience a deep Presence of God in the MASS: https://parishesonline.com/find/st-francis-of-assisi-church-92083/bulletin/file/05-0622-20220619B.pdf?mkt_tok=NDE4LVZNSS0zNDQAAAGFC13XGm-4c3Aftax_Dp9Nw8cc6C1UIEMj-kSLpvhcEE8Ynh6yUBUSDPKTZ6InmI7V61lsEX4YCGRuTyNO4zibR8VijLAoDxuPbpVxu12KvWeOB1E First Reading: Genesis 14:18-20, Psalm 110, Second Reading 1Corinthians 11:23-26; Luke 9:11b-17 and the meditation.

TO PREPARE:

Children: Review Bible Chronicles Stories:

#7 A mysterious priest blesses Abram (page 37-39) and #55,

  • Notice that the special priest and king Melchizedek brought BREAD and WINE to bless Abram (like our one High Priest greater than any other: JESUS!)

  • This story is like a preview of how Jesus gives us his BODY AND BLOOD in every Eucharist or MASS to carry on HIS mission in the world!

Jesus offers his BODY and BLOOD (page 247-249).

  • This was the FIRST MASS.....We become united with Jesus more and more each time we receive HIS BODY AND BLOOD

These stories will be read in the MASS and you'll be ready to appreciate God's WORD!!!

Also enjoy this video on the Luke 9:10-17 on Jesus feeding 5000 people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWLbxd1JZHk

  • Notice that there are 12 baskets of bread left over.....Beyond feeding all the people, God sent full baskets for each of the 12 disciples to eventually know that God has the power to provide for our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs beyond what we see or understand or what we could ever buy. We need to turn to God the Father as Jesus did and TRUST Him to provide for our needs.

BE SURE TO BRING YOUR RED Interactive MASS BOOK with you when you attend mass as a family!!!

SIT up front to be able to see what the priest is doing.....

Whisper the prayer on page 1 BEFORE the Mass starts.

FOLLOW along the Order of the Mass (starting on page 3)

Share with your catechist how you experienced the loving Presence of God throughout the Mass and one thing you will always remember in your heart. (Each family member.)
