Our Saint Francis Festival will be on Sunday, October 22 from 8AM-5:00 PM at the Church: 525 W. Vista Way, Vista, CA 92083. Please join us!

All Sunday Services will be held in the Sanctuary:

English: 7AM and 9AM, 5:00 PM

Spanish: 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 7:00 PM

BE SURE TO BRING YOUR JOURNAL and write down the date and something interesting that God revealed to you in the Mass. Share this with the Deacon and ask him to sign your journal.

Important Points for Saint Francis

1. St. Francis had two prayers that describe his WAY OF LIFE united with Jesus Christ.

   1. MY GOD and MY ALL: God means EVERYTHING to me.

   2. PEACE and ALL GOOD: Focus on peacemaking and God's goodness in all of CREATION.

2. St. Francis loved and cared for ALL of CREATION and called everyone and everything Brother or Sister: Brother Sun, Sister Moon, Blessing of the Animals Tradition

3. He was born to a very wealthy family in 1181 and was expected to carry on the family business. He lived a worldly life until his conversion by God during a year he spent as a military prisoner.

4. After his CONVERSION from the heart, he was more interested in helping the poor and sick and humbly and passionately following Jesus with his whole life.

5. One day he sold some of his father's goods and gave money to help restore a church. His father was very angry with him. Francis stripped off his rich clothes and turned his back on his family from that point on to follow Jesus.

6. He followed a life of Poverty and Prayer.

   1. Poverty here means that in humility, he always looked after the good of others before himself.

   2. Prayer means he was always in communion with God like Jesus was.

7. There were many wonderful stories that explained how he lived his life for God.

   1. He tamed a wild wolf who was terrorizing a neighboring village and worked out peaceful ways for the people to feed and care for the wolf to stop him from hurting others. https://www.northcountyoutreach.org/post/st-francis-for-children-the-wolf-of-gubio

   2. He nursed a man with leprosy without fear of getting that dreadful skin disease.

8. Toward the end of his life, St. Francis had a vision of Christ on the Cross. When it was over, he found that his hands and feet were bleeding, just like the crucified Christ's. These wounds, known as stigmata, lasted until his death in 1226.

9. St. Francis inspired others to follow him and three Franciscan religious orders were started to follow his way of life.

10. There were three important C's that St. Francis loved. This will help us remember the story of how Jesus lovingly saved us to be with God in His Kingdom forever.

    1. CRIB: God humbled himself to be born as a human (Incarnation)

    2. CROSS: God willingly died on a cross in our place to save us from our sins.

    3. CUP/Chalice: God give us his own Body and Blood at every MASS/Eucharist.
