ADVENT PREPARATION

Advent comes from the Latin word, meaning “coming.”  For us to PREPARE our hearts for the coming of Jesus, WE WILL READ AND PRAY SCRIPTURE.

READ and PRAY SCRIPTURE

In Romans 13:11, we are told in the Bible to awake from our not paying close attention to our relationship with God, because our salvation is near.  “And do this because you know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”

And in Ezekiel 36:26, “I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

So, we will now study the first 3 Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary:

1st Joyful Mystery—The Annunciation—Luke 1:26-38

In verse 28, the Angel Gabriel said, “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.”

In verse 38, Mary responds, “Be it done to me according to your word.” Mary says yes!

2nd Joyful Mystery—The Visitation—Mary visits Elizabeth—Luke 1:39-45

In verse 41, the infant John the Baptist, leaped for joy in Elizabeth’s womb because he was in the Presence of the Infant Jesus.

In verse 42, Elizabeth said in a loud voice, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb,” to Mary.

In verse 43, Elizabeth says, “And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” Elizabeth acknowledges that Jesus is Our Lord and Mary is the Mother of God!

3rd Joyful Mystery—The Birth of Our Lord—Luke 2:1-20

In verses 4 and 5, we find out why Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem.

In verse 7, we find out that there was no room for them in the inn or hotel and so Joseph made a place in a stable for Jesus to be born. We see the love of the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary, and St. Joseph.

PRAY THE ROSARY

Learn and Pray the Rosary, especially the 5 Joyful Mysteries during Advent. Learn the Basic Rosary Prayers: Sign of the Cross, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Fatima, Hail Holy Queen, Prayer After Rosary.

ADVENT WREATH and CANDLES

Color an Advent Wreath and Candles and follow the Scriptures and Prayers for Each Week. (See hand-out.)

JESSE TREE and O ANTIPHONS

Read about, color, and pray the daily prayer for  each Jesse Tree ornament or pray the O Antiphons (that are from the Bible) from December 17-23 that describe who Jesus is. (See hand-out.)

Save The Dates:

December 8—Feast of the Immaculate Conception—8 am Mass (English) and 7 pm Mass (Bilingual). This is a HOLY DAY of OBLIGATION 

1. Review the COMMUNION OF SAINTS HAND-OUT on MARY and complete the Reflection

2. Pray the Immaculate Conception Novena:  November 29-December 8

3. Experience a Scriptural Rosary especially the JOYFUL MYSTERIES

December 12—Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe—

• 5 am Mass (Spanish)

• 8 am Mass (English) and

• 7 pm Mass (Spanish)

December 17—Penance Service at St. Francis—12:30 pm and 6:30 pm.

1. Examination of Conscience:  Reflect on the Beatitudes.  Ask God to show you where you need healing and strength.

For the Baptized:  

1. ACT of CONTRITION PRAYER:  Learn a form of this prayer

2. SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER:  Say this prayer if you cannot physically attend Mass.

3. Attend the Parish Penance Service or make a special appointment with a priest.

Share God’s LOVE with others in creative ways as a family:  Share a meal, send a card or note of gratitude or blessings, do a good deed to help others…and…..

PREPARACIÓN PARA EL ADVIENTO

Adviento viene del latín y significa “ venida ” . Para preparar nuestros corazones para la venida de Jesús, leeremos y oraremos las Sagradas Escrituras.

LEER Y ORAR LAS ESCRITURAS

En Romanos 13:11, la Biblia nos dice que despertemos de nuestra falta de atención a nuestra relación con Dios, porque nuestra salvación está cerca. « Y hagan esto porque conocen el tiempo; ahora es hora de despertar del sueño. Porque nuestra salvación está más cerca ahora que cuando creímos » .

Y en Ezequiel 36:26: « Les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes. Quitaré de su carne el corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón de carne » .

Así pues, ahora estudiaremos los 3 primeros Misterios Gozosos del Rosario:

1er Misterio Gozoso: La Anunciación — Lucas 1 : 26-38

En el versículo 28, el ángel Gabriel dijo: “ Dios te salve, María, llena eres de gracia, el Señor es contigo ” .

En el versículo 38, María responde: “ Hágase en mí según tu palabra ” . ¡María dice que sí!

2º Misterio Gozoso—La Visitación—María visita a Isabel— Lucas 1:39-45

En el versículo 41, el niño Juan Bautista saltó de alegría en el vientre de Isabel porque estaba en presencia del Niño Jesús.

En el versículo 42, Isabel dijo en voz alta: « Bendita tú entre las mujeres, y bendito el fruto de tu vientre » , a María.

En el versículo 43, Isabel dice: “¿ Y cómo me sucede esto a mí, que la madre de mi Señor venga a mí? ” Isabel reconoce que Jesús es Nuestro Señor y María es la Madre de Dios.

3er Misterio Gozoso—El Nacimiento de Nuestro Señor— Lucas 2:1-20

En los versículos 4 y 5 descubrimos por qué José y María van a Belén.

En el versículo 7, descubrimos que no había lugar para ellos en la posada ni en el hotel, así que José preparó un lugar en un establo para que naciera Jesús. Vemos el amor de la Sagrada Familia: Jesús, María y San José.

ORAR DEL ROSARIO

Aprende y reza el Rosario, especialmente los 5 Misterios Gozosos durante el Adviento. Aprende las oraciones básicas del Rosario: Señal de la Cruz, Padrenuestro, Ave María, Gloria, Fátima, Salve Reina y la oración después del Rosario.

CORONA DE ADVIENTO y VELAS

Colorea una corona de Adviento y velas, y sigue las Escrituras y oraciones de cada semana. (Ver folleto).

ÁRBOL DE JESSÉ y ANTÍFONAS O

Lee, colorea y reza la oración diaria para cada adorno del Árbol de Jesé o reza las Antífonas O (que son de la Biblia) del 17 al 23 de diciembre que describen quién es Jesús. (Ver folleto).

ASISTIR FIELMENTE A LA MISA DOMINICAL SEMANAL

FIESTAS ESPECIALES Y SERVICIOS DE PENITENCIA

Reserva las fechas:

8 de diciembre —Fiesta de la Inmaculada Concepción—Misa de 8:00 a. m. (en inglés) y 7:00 p. m. (Bilingue). Este es un DÍA DE PRECEPTO.

1. Revise el MATERIAL DE ENTREGA DE LA COMUNIÓN DE LOS SANTOS sobre MARÍA y complete la Reflexión

2. Rezar la Novena a la Inmaculada Concepción: 29 de noviembre - 8 de diciembre

3. Experimente un Rosario Escritural, especialmente los MISTERIOS GOZOSOS

12 de diciembre —Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe—

• Misa de las 5 am (español)

• Misa de las 8 am (en inglés) y

• Misa de las 7 pm (español)

17 de diciembre —Servicio de Penitencia en San Francisco—12:30 pm y 6:30 pm.

Examen de Conciencia: Reflexiona sobre las Bienaventuranzas. Pídele a Dios que te muestre dónde necesitas sanación y fortaleza.

Para los bautizados:

1. ORACIÓN DEL ACTO DE CONTRICIÓN: Aprende una forma de esta oración

2. ORACIÓN DE COMUNIÓN ESPIRITUAL: Di esta oración si no puedes asistir físicamente a la Misa.

3. Asista al Servicio de Penitencia Parroquial o haga una cita especial con un sacerdote.

SERVICIO COMUNITARIO

Comparte el AMOR de Dios con otros de maneras creativas como familia: comparte una comida, envía una tarjeta o nota de gratitud o bendiciones, haz una buena acción para ayudar a otros... y...
