Luke 17:11–19 — A Thanksgiving Reflection for Youth and Families

1. Jesus Heals

Jesus hears the cry of ten people suffering from leprosy and isolation.He responds with mercy and sends them to the priests.As they go, Jesus heals all ten, restoring their bodies and their lives.

2. The Samaritan Responds

Only one returns—and he is a Samaritan, someone who wasn’t expected to be close to God.He comes back praising God, falls at Jesus’ feet, and thanks Him.His response shows gratitude, humility, and faith in action.

3. Jesus Offers Soul-Healing

Jesus tells the grateful man:“Stand up and go. Your faith has saved you!”Jesus gives him not only physical healing, but deep spiritual healing—the healing of the heart and soul that comes from faith and gratitude.

Thanksgiving Reflection Question

How is God inviting me to respond with gratitude today—just like the Samaritan—so that my faith can open my heart to the deeper healing Jesus offers?

Heavenly Father,Thank You for every blessing You have poured into our lives—the seen and the unseen, the big and the small.Thank You for Your mercy, Your healing, and Your love.Help us to be like the Samaritan who returned,lifting our voices and hearts to give You thanks.On this Thanksgiving Day, fill us with gratitude, heal what is hurting, and make our hearts new.Through Jesus Christ our Lord.Amen.
